About our Dermatology Practice
Life is about relationships. Dermatology involves more than only the skin. It is our aim to create a welcoming atmosphere where persons with simple or complex skin conditions receive excellent care, as our treatment is being built on trust.
Dr Anton R Botha studied medicine at the University of Pretoria and years later dermatology at the Universities of Stellenbosch and the Free State. His career as a specialist in Dermatology started in Upington, a town on the banks of the Orange River, in the Kalahari semi-desert region of southern Africa. This was where his keen interest in the prevention and treatment of skin cancer began.
In January 2020 he opened a new Dermatology practice in George, after relocating to the Garden Route to be closer to family.
Our Services
We strive to take time to make proper diagnoses and provide appropriate treatment.
Listed are some of our services:
01
Mole mapping and Dermoscopy
Every person with family history of Melanoma skin cancer or with multiple moles can greatly benefit from annual total body mapping and dermoscopy. At EpicSkin the latest German technology is used to detect early Melanoma.
02
Especially when fungal infections of the skin, hair or nails are suspected, are scrapings examined under the microscope. Microscopy is also helpful with certain parasites and viruses.
03
Cryotherapy
Liquid Nitrogen is most commonly used to freeze solar (actinic) keratosis in sun damaged skin, viral warts and sunspots.
04
Curettage and Electrocautery
Various benign and malignant skin lesions are best treated by the above method under local anaesthesia.
05
Biopsy
and Excision
Often a sample of the skin needs to be removed by biopsy under local anaesthesia and sent to the pathologist for diagnostic testing.
Excisions of smaller cancerous to larger non-cancerous skin lesions are performed regularly.
06
Photodynamic Therapy (PDT)
In individuals with extensive sun damage over larger skin areas, PDT is a highly advantageous treatment to prevent future invasive skin cancer.
PDT can also be of help in recalcitrant viral warts or acne.
